A DHCP client? if you have a pc with a nic card you have a dhcp
client. Do you have a device such as a router or some computer that is
working as a DHCP server?

All you need to do to be a DHCP client is to go into the settings and
select "get address dynamically" and then you will grab either an
internal address (like 192.168.1.x, x=1-254 is a usual LAN side ip
address) or maybe even an external ip address depending on how your isp
provides ip addresses.

if you have any futher questions regarding linux or the network issues
you have been having feel free to email be at ***@gmail.com.. I'm
more than willing to help out people just getting into linux :)

Ummm... not correct. You will need to install a DHCP client - I'll bet RH
did it automatically. Run the "neat" command to examine your network
setup.

The settings can be found with the "neat" command, or edited by hand
in /etc.

Huh? then i must have some super power because i've never done it that
way. To be a client to a DHCP server all you have to do is set it to
dynamically get ip addresses instead of setting a static.

More likely you have, and just don't know it.

What is "it" though? "It" is a DHCP client, which is what the OP was asking
for. Most network cards will not automatically configure this, though a
few can. You're probably just used to using Fedora and similar distros,
which hide you from all of the complicated stuff behind the scenes.

Not automatically. Like I said you have to tell it to dynamically get
an address. I have yet to see any network card config (windows or
linux) that does not have an option to set "get address dynamcially via
dhcp".. And no I do not use fedora :) I tried it once and didnt like
it much. I currently use gentoo or slackware actually..

Anyways, this is a dumb thing to 'fight' about.. :)
